Goal Ball

Paralmypic Sport Club - TriangleOne of the sports unique to the blind community is Goal Ball. It’s a fast-paced competition that’s part of the U.S. Paralympics. A team of three tries to throw a ball over a goal line, while the opposing team guards the goal with their hands, knees and body. They know the position of the ball by bells that are placed inside of it. Bridge II Sports has found that able-bodied people who play “blind” discover a new perspective of and appreciation for the skills that are developed in order to play this difficult game. Come on out and try. Be a volunteer, cheerleader -- be inspired to play beyond what you can see!

You will need to prepare a few things to have a safe season.  You will need to purchase and label:

1.  Ski Goggles/goggles blackened out with duct tape.  If you cannot afford that, pick up a pair of progective eye goggles from the Dollar store and duct tape those. Those are not official, but for our needs they will work. If you need help covering your goggles, we will get some volunteers to help you get them covered.  Just bring in the goggles and tape!

2.  You need to purchase knee and elbow pads.  This will keep you safe.  Please make sure you label all items!
