What is your favorite thing to do and why?
Serve at St. John the Merciful Men's Homeless Shelter. The reason for that is because, I originally needed 25 hours of community service to graduate high school for my senior year. Then, out of the blue, the deacon at my church Deacon Gavrilo told me I could work at the shelter for my community service. I said yes to the idea and when I first came there I didn't know what to expect, but the people that I work with have just been natural with me instead of being prideful. Now, I look forward to going even after my hours are done.
What is your favorite sport to play and why?
Wheelchair Basketball. Because, when I first started nobody trusted me with the ball and I never got to shoot. After that, I worked on my shooting in my backyard in Memphis with my father everyday (or at least the majority of the week.) I've won 2 championships in Memphis and I've made the All - Star team here with the Jr. Thunder. And hopefully, I can work harder and go into the Men's basketball league.
How long have you played adapted sports?
5 years.
How has playing sports changed you?
It has made me more active with myself, keep my body fit, and set higher aspirations for myself.
What does it mean to you to be able to play sports?
Honestly, it means not for me, but for anyone with a disability to get up, and do something productive with themselves set goals and don't let anyone or anything stop you from reaching them.
Who is your hero and why?
My Father. Because, he was the one that trained me day after day on my game. Also, he's there for me when I have issues in life. I always look up to him.
What are you thankful for?
I'm thankful for having the ability to walk ever since the Biofeedback training when I was 10. I'm also thankful for the move from Memphis to Raleigh and being able to go back to public school and make new friends and enjoy my classes.
