What a difference just one morning of volunteering can make!

On Saturday, October 8, we had our Fall Volunteer Work Day at the Bridge II Sports campus organized by Logan.

On top of clearing leftover debris from Hurricane Ian, weeding and mulching all the flower beds, and trimming back trees from the archery range and house, the dedicated crew tackled a very special project.

In 2020, we planted a butterfly bush in a simple garden to remember Whit, a volunteer and friend near and dear to the heart of Bridge II Sports who passed away unexpectedly. Sadly, since that time we have lost other special members of our BIIS family and have had hopes of building a memorial garden to reflect on their memories.

Those hopes turned into reality with just a few short hours of volunteer muscle, sweat, and expertise. We even had help from a professional landscaper who also happens to be VFC Coordinator Kathy Duffy’s son Mike, owner of Lawn MD (he also provided the soil!)

Thank you to all who came out and gave your time to create a truly beautiful addition to Bridge II Sports.

A special thank you also to Gorilla Materials on Mt.Hermon Church road for donating a truck bed piled high with mulch.
