Bridge II Sports program staff and athletes spent a special day at the UNC Spina Bifida Family Conference and Reunion on Saturday October 5th  doing what they love to do: Introducing kids to WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL🏀!

Hosted by the UNC Departments of Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Urology, Orthopedics,
and Rehabilitation Therapies- the Conference and Reunion was an opportunity for children with spina bifida and their families to learn, share and play together.

Several kids and their siblings took to the court- most never having tried a sport wheelchair before.  Our staff was wowed at how quickly these young players were ‘finding their player within’- spinning, shooting, and moving with confidence.

Looking forward to seeing these new athletes and families out at BIIS Team PRIDE practice in the future!

Our thanks to Kristi Hildebrand and UNC Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery for the invitation.
