William Christy is a name you should know.
And now, due to his dedication to spreading awareness about sport and disability, everyone at his alma mater will for years to come.
In 2016 during his junior year at William Peace University, William organized a wheelchair basketball event with Bridge II Sports to increase disability awareness and introduce students and faculty to the sport he loves and plays.
William is a former Bridge II Sports athlete who grew up through the BIIS Junior Thunder wheelchair basketball program and now plays for the Triangle Thunder adult team.
Even though William is currently in graduate school at NC State University he continues this event every year at Peace. To honor his dedication his alma mater announced at the event on April 6, 2018 that it would officially be called “The Annual William Christy Wheelchair Basketball Game with Bridge II Sports”
We are so proud to have watched this young man grow through sport and use his passion to make change.
Incredible day for our BIIS staff, friends and new friends at Peace University with a better understanding of disability and the power of sport.
Looking forward to many years to come!
