Schedule of VGSE19 Media Opportunities

NOTE: ALL Media covering Valor Games Southeast 2019 MUST CHECK-IN
at each venue and are required to REVIEW, INITIAL, SIGN and ADHERE
to the Bridge II Sports Media Policy.
Policy will be available at Media Check-In at events.

MONDAY MAY 20

6pm-8pm: Opening Ceremony 
Featuring Veteran speakers from sponsors USAA, MetLife and Cisco as well as Representative Holly Grange

Both events at DoubleTree Hotel (4810 Page Creek Lane, Durham)
MEDIA CHECK-IN: Front of Hotel

TUESDAY MAY 21

9:00am-3:00pm: Day 1 of Competition

Sports: Boccia, Air Rifle and Sitting Volleyball

University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill

Dean E. Smith Center (300 Skipper Bowles Dr., Chapel Hill) 

MEDIA CHECK-IN: Concourse Gate A

All sports running simultaneously.  After check-in media will be escorted to the floor for footage and interviews with staff, volunteers and athletes.

WEDNESDAY MAY 22

9:00am-3:00pm: Day 2 of Competition

Sports: Archery, Powerlifting (am only), Indoor Rowing,
Table Tennis and Wheelchair Basketball

Duke University

Cameron Indoor Stadium, K-Ville, Card Gym (115 Whitford Dr., Durham)

MEDIA CHECK-IN: South Entrance Cameron Indoor Stadium

All sports running simultaneously.  After check-in media will be escorted to the floor for footage and interviews with staff, volunteers and athletes.

The Wheelchair Basketball final game will take place on the full court at Cameron sometime between 1-3pm (this is tentative timing as of 5.1.19- we are still determining how many athletes will be signing up for basketball and will determine the schedule off of that information)

THURSDAY MAY 23

8:00am-11:30am: Day 3 of Competition

Sports: Cycling, Kayaking, Shot Put and Advanced Archery

Lake Crabtree County Park (1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville)

MEDIA CHECK-IN: Table by Boathouse and Accessible Dock

All sports running simultaneously.  After check-in media will be escorted for footage and interviews with staff, volunteers and athletes.

*IMPORATANT NOTE: Park is closed to incoming and outgoing traffic to use the main road for the cycling race.  Media must be in the park by 7:45am and will not be able to leave until after 11:30am once athlete buses depart.

12pm – 2pm: Closing Ceremony

MetLife GTO Campus (201 MetLife Way, Cary)

Media Check-In: Building MET2 Entrance

Closing Ceremony is a beautiful outdoor function under the ‘big tent’ on MetLife’s Great Lawn and a wonderful way to end the week.

Executive Leaders from MetLife, Cisco and Bridge II Sports will provide remarks as well as NC Secretary of Military and Veteran Affairs Larry Hall.

After check-in media will be escorted for footage and interviews with staff, volunteers and athletes. Interview opportunities available with executive leaders from MetLife and Cisco as well.
