Adaptive Sports Open Gym

Come try a new sport—bring a friend!

Bridge II Sports is excited to launch a new Adaptive Sports Open Gym, offering a fun, inclusive space for individuals with disabilities—and their friends and family—to explore a variety of adaptive sports and stay active together.

This program is offered in partnership with the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department, expanding access to adaptive recreation opportunities across the community.

    • Location: Jaycee Community Center (Raleigh, NC)

    • Days: Every Saturday

    • Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

    • Start Date: June 6

    • Season: Ongoing through the end of 2026

  • The Adaptive Sports Open Gym is designed to be a flexible, drop-in style program where participants can try different activities each week. Whether you’re brand new to adaptive sports or have previous experience, this program offers a welcoming space to stay active, build skills, and connect with others.

Each session will be supported by Bridge II Sports staff and volunteers, alongside our partners at the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department, to guide activities, provide instruction, and assist with equipment.

    Participants can expect:

    • A welcoming, inclusive, and social environment

    • Opportunities to try multiple adaptive sports in one session

    • Access to adaptive equipment

    • Guidance and support from experienced staff and volunteers

    • A chance to connect with others in the community

    • The ability to participate alongside friends and family

  • Available Activities

Equipment and activities may vary week-to-week but will include:

    • Wheelchair Basketball

    • Sitting Volleyball

    • Boccia

    • Adaptive Cycling

    • Wheelchair Lacrosse

    • Wheelchair Rugby

This variety gives participants the opportunity to explore different sports and discover what they enjoy most.

Don’t see a sport you’re interested in? Let us know! We’re always looking to expand our offerings and will do our best to incorporate new activities based on participant interest and available resources.

  • This program is open to individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments of all ability levels. No prior experience is required—just come ready to try something new and have fun.

Friends, family members, and able-bodied participants are encouraged to join as well. Whether you’re supporting a loved one or simply want to experience adaptive sports in an inclusive environment, this program is designed for everyone to participate together.

  • Registration is required through the City of Raleigh RecLink system.
