Sport Protection Policy & Child Safeguarding

At Bridge II Sports, the safety and well-being of every participant comes first. We are committed to providing sports in an environment that is safe, inclusive, and welcoming for children, youth, adults, and individuals with disabilities.

In an emergency

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 right away.

To report suspected child abuse or neglect, contact your county Department of Social Services, or call North Carolina Child Protective Services at (919) 527-6430. You can find your county office in the NCDHHS Local DSS Directory.

This web form is reviewed by our staff but is not monitored around the clock. Please do not use it to report an emergency.

Our commitment to safe sport

Everyone involved in Bridge II Sports programs deserves to take part in a safe, respectful, and supportive setting. We hold our staff, board members, volunteers, contractors, and partners to clear safeguarding standards that are designed to prevent harm and protect participants.

Our Sport Protection and Safeguarding Policy reflects current best practices and aligns with the U.S. Center for SafeSport, Move United, North Carolina mandatory reporting laws, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It sets clear expectations for preventing harm, reporting concerns, and responding to them.

Before anyone works directly with participants, they complete a verification process that includes background checks and safeguarding training. We require ongoing training, we protect participant privacy and dignity, and we review our practices regularly so they stay current and effective.

If you have a concern

If you have seen or heard something that makes you concerned for a child's safety, please tell us. You do not need to be certain. If something does not feel right, it is okay to raise it. Here is how to report, depending on the situation:

A child is in immediate danger — call 911.

You suspect child abuse or neglect — North Carolina law requires anyone who suspects abuse or neglect to report it directly to authorities. Contact your county Department of Social Services or call (919) 527-6430. Submitting the form below does not replace this responsibility.

A non-emergency concern about a Bridge II Sports program, participant, staff member, or volunteer — use the form below. It goes directly to our Designated Safeguarding Officer.

What happens next

We take every concern seriously and handle it with care. Information is shared only with those who need to know in order to keep participants safe, and some concerns must, by law, be reported to the authorities. Bridge II Sports does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Report a concern

We encourage you to provide as much information as possible. All information you are able to provide assists us in promptly and effectively responding to reported allegations. Under Bridge II Sports’ policies, third-party reporters' names and contact information are kept confidential.

You may report anonymously by omitting your identifying information. However, remaining anonymous may limit our ability to investigate and/or respond to the information you provide.
