Cycling Season Kicks Off with a Perfect Ride on the American Tobacco Trail

Last Saturday, April 11, Bridge II Sports Cycling officially kicked off the 2026 cycling season with our first ride of the year and we couldn’t have asked for a better start.

With unbelievable weather, smooth miles on the American Tobacco Trail, and an even better community showing up, the day set the tone for what’s shaping up to be an incredible season.

🚴‍♂️ A Strong Start to the Season

We were thrilled to welcome 11 participants to our season-opening ride, including both returning athletes and first-time riders. For many, it was their first opportunity of the year to get back on a bike and for a few, their very first time riding with Bridge II Sports.

The excitement, smiles, and sense of accomplishment were evident from the very first mile to the final stretch of the ride.

🙌 Volunteers Make It Possible

None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers. We were fortunate to have 10 amazing volunteers on hand who helped:

  • Pilot tandem bikes

  • Rove alongside single riders

  • Assist participants with bike setup and adjustments

  • Support athletes getting back on their bikes for the first time in 2026

Their dedication, patience, and enthusiasm are what make each ride safe, supportive, and fun for everyone involved.

📅 Looking Ahead: The 2026 Cycling Season

This first ride was just the beginning! Bridge II Sports Cycling offers two rides each month throughout the season:

🕘 All rides take place on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
