Wheelchair Basketball
The Triangle Thunder have been the premiere adult competitive wheelchair basketball team in the Raleigh-Durham area for over 30 years! They regularly compete in national tournaments, consistently demonstrating that they can hang with the top teams in their division.
They have built a rich community of elite wheelchair athletes from Raleigh, Durham, and the surrounding areas and would love for you to join them at their next practice! Whether you are new to adapted sports or an experienced player, there is a spot for you on the team and within this community. If you would like to participate but do not have a sports chair, Bridge2Sports’ loaner program can set you up with a chair in no time! Just call our office or email us and we would be happy to walk you through a fitting and provide you with a chair!
Triangle Thunder practices on Thursday nights from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at Barwell Community Center in Raleigh.

The Triangle Thunder allows any adult over the age of 18 to play on their team, regardless of disability or gender. You must be able to self-propel in order to compete on the team, but you are welcome to come try out the sport as you develop this skill! A wheelchair basketball team must consist of a diverse range of disabilities in order to be competitive, so your experience and uniqueness is very valuable to the team! You are invited to come and give it a try!

Participation in practices are completely free! There may be fees associated with tournament play and NWBA membership, so please contact the Triangle Thunder at ___ if you would like more information on this.

None! Bridge2Sports is happy to loan out equipment for any player who would like to play wheelchair basketball. Most players choose to obtain their own chairs as they become more competitive, but this is not required for participation.

To get started, simply join one of their practices on Thursdays!
If you would like an introduction to wheelchair basketball before joining a practice, you can also come try out the sport at Bridge2Sports’ adaptive sports open gyms on Saturdays at Jaycee Park from 9:00am - 10:30am!
