Countdown to National Adaptive Sports Day – April 28!

Celebrating Inclusion, Movement, and the Power of Adaptive Sports

The countdown is officially on. National Adaptive Sports Day is coming up on April 28, and Bridge II Sports is thrilled to join organizations across the country in celebrating the athletes, volunteers, families, and supporters who make adaptive sports possible.

This day is more than a date on the calendar—it’s a nationwide reminder of the strength, resilience, and community that adaptive sports create. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a brand‑new participant, or a volunteer who keeps the wheels turning, this celebration is for you.

A National Movement You’re Part Of

Across the U.S., adaptive sports organizations, big and small, will be hosting events, clinics, and community gatherings to mark the occasion. Many of these opportunities are led by Move United, a national leader in adaptive sports programming and advocacy. Information and events can be found here: Home | National Adaptive Sport Day

Move United and its network of member organizations will be rolling out:

  • Virtual and in‑person adaptive sports clinics

  • Awareness campaigns and athlete spotlights

  • Community challenges and fitness activities

  • Local events designed to get people moving and connected

We’ll be sharing updates, opportunities, and ways to get involved as April 28 gets closer.

Celebrating Our Triangle Partners

Here in the Triangle, we’re fortunate to be surrounded by an incredible community of partners who champion inclusion and movement year‑round. From recreation departments to university programs to local nonprofits, these partners help expand access to adaptive sports and create more opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities.

Throughout April—and especially as we approach National Adaptive Sports Day—many of our partners will be hosting events, clinics, and activities of their own. You can find all of these opportunities in one place on our Partner Calendar on the Bridge II Sports website. It’s the best way to stay connected to everything happening across the region.

We’re grateful for every organization that stands with us in building a more inclusive and active community.

What National Adaptive Sports Day Means to Bridge II Sports

Here at Bridge II Sports, we see every day how adaptive sports change lives. They build confidence, create friendships, and open doors to independence and joy. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be counting down with:

  • Stories from our athletes and volunteers

  • Highlights from our programs

  • Ways YOU can celebrate and spread the word

  • Local and national events you can join
