In the Spotlight: Open Gym

Bridge2Sports Announces Adaptive Sports Open Gym Start Date

We’re excited to officially announce the launch of Bridge2Sports’ Adaptive Sports Open Gym — a brand-new opportunity for athletes of all abilities to explore, learn, and have fun through sport!

Our first session kicks off on Saturday, July 11th, and we can’t wait to see you there.

📍 Event Details

  • Location: Jaycee Community Center (off Wade Ave.), Raleigh NC

  • Date: Saturday, July 11th

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

What Is Open Gym?

The Adaptive Sports Open Gym is designed to create a welcoming, low-pressure space where participants can try a variety of adaptive sports at their own pace. Instead of committing to a full-length practice, this format allows you to explore multiple sports in one session.

Participants are free to move throughout the space, experiment with new activities, and connect with others—making it a fun, flexible, and engaging experience for everyone.

Sports You Can Try

We’ll have a wide range of adaptive sports available, including:

  • Wheelchair Basketball

  • Sitting Volleyball

  • Boccia

  • Adaptive Biking

  • And much more!

With plenty of equipment available, everyone will have the chance to jump in and give each sport a try.

Who Can Attend?

This program is open to all ages and ability levels. Whether you’re brand new to adaptive sports or already have experience, Open Gym is for you.

We also encourage participants to bring friends and family—it’s a great way to share the experience and build community together.

Why Open Gym?

We understand that trying something new can feel intimidating—especially in a structured, competitive setting. That’s why Open Gym is all about:

  • Exploration without pressure

  • Learning through play

  • Friendly competition with Bridge2Sports staff

  • Building confidence and connections

Our staff will be there every step of the way to guide, support, and even challenge you in some friendly competition!

How to Register

Because this program is offered in partnership with the City of Raleigh, registration is simple. All participants need to do is create a RecLink account through the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation website.

Once you arrive the morning of Open Gym, front desk staff at the Jaycee Community Center will assist you with completing the check-in process—so getting started is quick and easy.

Join Us!

This is just the beginning of an exciting new program, and we’d love for you to be part of it from day one.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 11th, and come experience the fun, freedom, and community of adaptive sports.

We’ll see you at Open Gym!
