Valor Games SE 2022 Athlete FAQ

Due to COVID-19 and evolving local, state, and national guidelines/restrictions answers to some of the questions below may change. We will work to make sure you are kept updated on the latest developments.

When is Valor Games SE 2022?

In 2022 instead of 1 three-day event, Bridge II Sports is hosting 3 Valor Games SE events.

  • May Event – 2 Days of Competition
    • May 24th: Athlete Check-in and Opening Ceremony
    • May 25th: Day 1 at Duke University – Powerlifting, Indoor Rowing, Sitting Volleyball, Table Tennis
    • May 26th: Day 2 at Lake Crabtree County Park – Kayaking, Cycling, Archery
  • August 6th  3-on-3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament; Rocky Mount, NC
    • August 5th: Athlete Check-In
    • August 6th: Tournament
  • August 22nd – 9-hole Scramble Golf Tournament; Hillandale Golf Course, Durham, NC
    • August 21st: Athlete Check-in
    • August 22nd: Tournament

What happens if I am placed on the the waitlist?

If a chosen athletes is unable to attend the games, someone from the waitlist will be chosen to participate. Bridge II Sports staff will notify you if a spot opens.

How do I get to Valor Games Southeast 2022?

Athletes are responsible for securing and funding their own transportation to VGSE2022 AND home from the games.

Where will I be staying?

VGSE22 will provide athletes competing at the May event with 2 nights of accomodations (the night prior to competition day, and the night of competition Day 1)

VGSE22 will provide Veteran Athletes participating in wheelchair basketball tournament with 2 nights of accomodations in VGSE designated hotel(s) in Rocky Mount (the night prior to competition August 5 and the night after competition August 6).

Those traveling from out of town for the golf tournament who have requested accomodations will be notified by event manager.

When and how do I check in for the games?

All athletes must officially check-in with VGSE22 FIRST to review registration information, receive room assignment, provide proof of military service (DD214, Active Duty ID card, Retiree ID Card, VA Health ID card, VA ID card) and pick up swag bag.

Check in for the May Event is on:

All athletes are expected to attend Opening Ceremony at 6:00pm to kick-off the games!

Check in for the Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is on:

How do I get to competition each day?

For the May event athletes will be expected to use transportation provided by VGSE to get to and from the competition venues each day.  Athletes may not drive personal vehicles to competition venues.

Athletes will drive themselves to wheelchair basketball and golf competitions or arrange transportation with VGSE event manager in advance.

Is food included at VGSE?

Meals provided during VGSE include:

Dinner – buffet-style sitdown meal at DoubleTree Hotel during awards ceremony

Will I be able to come back to the hotel duirng the day?

No. All athletes will remain at venues for the full competition day.
Athletes must bring all necessary personal items with them including:
medications
assistive devices
bathrooming supplies
appropriate layers and clothing

Are spectators welcome?

Spectators are welcome at both the wheelchair basketball tournament and golf tournament.
